10. Braille keyboard commands

Default hotkeys

Below is a list of the default hotkeys assigned to Braille commands within SuperNova and Dolphin ScreenReader. You can add, remove, and replace the key assignments through the "Hotkeys" dialog box (ALT + G, K, H).

Layered hotkeys - The Braille layer

Layered hotkey mode provides an alternative way to access popular settings. To enter the Braille layer within Layered hotkey mode, press CAPS LOCK + SPACEBAR, then B.

Braille layer options include:

  • Output On/ Off, O.
  • Literary On/ Off, L.
  • Enhanced Mode On/ Off, E.
  • Tracking On / Off, T.
  • 6 Dots On / Off, 6.
  • Tremble Capitals On / Off, A.
  • Input Keys On / Off, I.
  • Literary Input On / Off, Y.
  • Hooks On / Off, H.
  • On Screen Monitor On / Off, M.
  • Cursor On / Off, C.
  • Set Cursor Style, U (continue to press U until your chosen style is selected and then press ESCAPE).
  • Set Verbosity, V (continue to press V until your chosen Verbosity Scheme is selected an then press ESCAPE).

The Braille layer also includes the following sublayers:

  • Describe Character layer, D.
  • Physical layer, P.
  • Routing Buttons layer, R.

As well as using shortcut keys, you can also use TAB and SHIFT + TAB to explore the available options, ENTER to select an item, BACKSPACE to go back to the previous layer and ESCAPE to exit Layered hotkey mode.
