Speaker notes
Introduction
Below you will learn the keystrokes required to add and edit speaker notes. Speaker notes are your personal reminders of points you want to discuss during your presentation. During your presentation, your speaker notes are only visible to you. Your audience only sees the slides.
Reading time: 5 minutes approx.
Adding speaker notes
You can aid your presentation by adding speaker notes to slides. Speaker notes enable you to add reminders about important points you want to discuss with your audience while the audience is engaged in viewing the slide.
To add notes to a slide when creating slides:
- If the Notes pane is not discoverable with F6, you must choose to show the Notes pane. You can do this by selecting the "Notes" button from the status bar or by selecting "Notes" from the "View" tab of the Ribbon (ALT + W, P, N).
- Press F6 or SHIFT + F6 until the Notes pane has focus. If you are moving from the Ribbon tab to the Notes pane, speech will say "Notes page". If you are moving from the Thumbnail pane, speech will say "blank line".
- Type your notes for the slide.
- Once done, you can press F6 to move focus back to the Slide View pane to continue editing the slide or, if editing is complete, press CONTROL + M to create a new slide.
Generally, you will find the workspace area showing the panes in the following order: Notes Pane, followed by the Slides and Outline (Thumbnail) Pane, followed by the Slide View Pane. You will find navigating between these panes is a regular exercise during the creation of a presentation.
Reading your slide notes during a presentation
You can review your slide notes during your presentation with the use of the Dolphin Cursor. This is discussed in more detail in the next section.
